Lubbock Exercise Physiologist (Community Gym)

This is a Full-time position in lubbock, TX posted March 15, 2022.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Exercise and Sports Science Specialist will be responsible for providing modalities and treatment for program clients and for developing and maintaining relationships with other professionals and community agencies.

Duties involving service to clients include implementing a comprehensive recreational and exercise program including treatment modules to restore, re-mediate or rehabilitate the effects of illness or disability for improved functioning and independence in cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral and physical domains as well as providing an opportunity for recreational and exercise participation to promote health and well-being; programming and implementing activities and goals; serve as a member of an transdisciplinary treatment team; coordinate efforts with other therapy team members; attend treatment team and weekly staff meetings as needed; complete discharge planning.

The Exercise and Sports Science Specialist will uphold the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and client data and information in the performance of assigned duties.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete Therapeutic Recreation evaluation and develop appropriate treatment goals in conjunction with Occupational Therapy.
Assist in the development and implementation of treatment modalities which address the goals developed in the individual program plans.
Deliver a variety of age appropriate recreation and exercise activities which fulfill client’s social, mental, emotional, and physical needs and interests.
Complete daily notes and monthly updates of goals.
Assist in discharge planning by providing and counseling clients on available leisure resources in their discharge community.
Establish contacts in the discharge community.
Supervise volunteers as needed.
Develop and maintain relationships with peers, professional and community contacts.
Assist in day to day operation of the therapy department.
Follow and implement behavioral contract guidelines as needed.
Conduct screenings on potential clients as assigned by the Team Leader or Program Director.
Assist in fund raising for client fund.
Coordinate and direct exercise activities and duties during outings and evening modules as needed.
Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policy, CARF and other accrediting bodies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Professional certification in Exercise Sports Science.
Knowledge and skills in a wide range of exercise, sports, crafts, games, and other recreation activities.
Must be effective and enjoy flexibility in job.
Knowledge of documentation procedures.
Ability to formulate treatment plans, goals and objectives for clients.
Have ability to organize and implement an innovative, creative sports therapy program.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Current valid Texas Driver’s license.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Experience working with brain injury rehabilitation and/or community re-entry programming preferred.
