Materials Coordinator I

We work together to enhance peoples’ lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.SUMMARYUnder the direction and support of the site Warehouse Supervisor, organize, lead, and monitor Westlake warehouse activities, maintaining sufficient inventory and inventory records, resolving shipment errors and ensuring ready access to items by storeroom customers.Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description. Comply with all Company policies and procedures. Fully support Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:* Under the direction and support of the site Warehouse Supervisor, train, monitor, lead, and assist storeroom personnel in performance of their duties.* Prepare purchase requisitions for stock material items.* Assist plant personnel in locating material needed for Operations.* Participate and actively lead in the daily operations of the warehouse* Resolve errors with vendor shipments and forward information to Purchasing department for inclusion in vendor files for evaluation purposes.* Maintain pertinent records such as packing lists and receivers lists.* Ensure In-plant deliveries of materials are made in a safe and efficient manner.* Schedule & coordinate outgoing shipments to assure they are scheduled, packaged correctly, and shipments made as specified.* DOT ground shipping certification must remain current.* Maintain SAP material master and data integrity for material number creation and changes.* Plan, perform & review inventory cycle counting of the storeroom. Responsible for minimizing inventory variances.* Ensure safe operation of equipment to perform movement of materials.* Participate in on-call rotation as needed for after-hours coverage of warehouse* Perform other duties as requested by Procurement Management and Warehouse Supervision to assure effective and efficient operation of the Department.* Contact shipping companies to expedite delivery schedules.* Comply with all Stores Policies & Procedures, and DOA requirements as they relate to Stores activity.* Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of other. Promptly report to Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or the equivalent GED is required. Completion of basic college courses in Business Administration and/or Supply Chain Management is desired. A minimum of five years of progressive experience in stores/warehouse work in a manufacturing environment is required. Knowledge of inventory accounting principles, cost implications and ERP/MRP systems is preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to utilize PC and experience in general software applications such as SAP, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. Must currently have DOT certification or be willing to obtain DOT training for shipping of materials.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis job is performed mainly in a warehouse setting; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee must be able to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including FRC’s, safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. The warehouse is open to the heat and cold and does not have air conditioning. Travel may occasionally be required.Westlake Chemical is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
