Professional Engineer

K.C. Engineering, Inc.

This is a Contract position in Marble Falls, TX posted July 29, 2021.

Work includes performing a variety of professional engineering duties involved with analyses, design, specifications, construction, report preparation, review, and inspection of civil engineering projects.

Registered Professional Engineer (Licensed Engineer) with 0-5 years’ experience needed for established civil engineering firm in Marble Falls, TX. Will be responsible for the development of all phases of infrastructure, transportation, and land development projects including planning, analyses, preliminary and final engineering design, and construction support. Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight.

Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, analyses, design, communication, and broad technical knowledge including (but not limited to) detailing, construction materials, specifications, utilities, grading, drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, water quality and detention design, and field experience.

Opportunities exist to work on a variety of projects including drainage studies, transportation, subdivisions, site development plans, and mixed-use developments.

Skills required include proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GIS, and Microsoft Office (Microsoft 365) programs, with an emphasis on using AutoCAD Civil 3D for designing and profiling utilities and roadways.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited college or university AND registration as a Registered Professional Engineer (Licensed Engineer) in Texas. Proof of compliance is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·      Under general direction of other registered professional (licensed) engineers, may perform the following functions: reports, layouts, drafting and design work on a variety of projects utilizing computer-aided drafting and design (CADD). Design work may include highways, streets, roads, bridge layouts, culverts; traffic control devices; subdivisions; site plans; drainage studies; stormwater systems (conveyance, water quality and water quantity); wastewater collection systems; water distribution systems; and other functions, as assigned

·      Analyze, and interpret survey data and incorporate into engineering analysis and design functions

·      Prepare construction contract documents

·      Prepare and reviews engineering plans, reports, studies, and other documents

·      Prepares cost estimates, specifications, special provisions, special specifications, and other documents

·      Prepare engineering plans, reports, or studies and reviews calculations and the work of others

·      Design and review projects for compliance with local ordinances, state and federal statutes and regulations, and adopted standards, or policies

·      Meet with current or prospective clients

·      Make presentations to clients, governmental entities, and others

·      Perform inspections and evaluations of construction work in progress and prepares appropriate reports; calculates and verifies pay quantities for construction contracts pay applications

·      Review the testing of materials and interprets results to ensure compliance with project specifications and prepares written reports and recommends alternatives when necessary

·      Review shop drawings and issues written recommendations

·      Provide technical assistance as required

·      Participate in technical review meetings and other meetings with engineering and other staff

·      Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

·      Higher level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus, and its application to surveying and engineering computations

·      Engineering principles, practices, and procedures

·      Current literature, trends, and developments in the field of civil engineering, and the ability to stay current with new developments

·      AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D Software

·      Other computer software

Ability to:

  • Have a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations
  • Adapt engineering information, codes, and standards to the planning, review, design, and construction of projects
  • Collect and analyze technical information and to develop reasonable solutions or alternatives to problems or issues
  • Use a personal computer and computer-aided drafting and design systems on a computer network to complete essential functions
  • Prepare, interpret, and utilize plans, maps, specifications, special provisions, special specifications, and reports
  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare engineering reports
  • Communicate effectively with others orally and in writing
  • Work with others
  • Effectively coordinate, perform, and complete multiple duties and assignments concurrently and in a timely manner
  • Travel occasionally
  • Work overtime to meet internal and project deadlines
