Job Summary We are searching for a Senior Athletic Trainer — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide high quality Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Services and act as a liaison to the community coaches, athletic trainers, and school nurses. This role will function effectively as a member of the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team and proactively support efforts that ensure the delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment. The Senior Athletic Trainer also provides family-centered care to a culturally diverse population in a manner that is age and developmentally appropriate. Think you’ve got what it takes? ResponsibilitiesEnsures that the assessment includes a systematic approach, patient’s condition, developmental age, current practice standards of the specialty unit, and adherence to clinic scopeIncorporates data from patient, family, laboratory and other medical reportsCollaborates with the patient, family and members of the health care team to establish desired outcomes and to meet immediate and future health care needsImplements therapeutic physician, nurse, or athletic trainer-initiated interventionsResponsible for home exercise program for patients per provider’s requestEvaluates and documents patient responses to care provided and recognizes the patient’s progress towards meeting desired outcomesPromotes continuity of patient care throughout the education of patients, families and health care team in self-care, health promotion and disease preventionDemonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills, communication, and customer service skillsOrders and uses the minimal amount of supplies and equipment needed. Credits unused supplies and equipmentImplement safety protocols regarding environmental conditions that would prohibit continued play by individuals or teams, to include but not limited to, heat, lightning, cold, and length of participation QualificationsBachelor’s degree requiredAT-Lic from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation requiredATC-BOC certification from the Board of Certification of Athletic Trainers requiredBLS certification from the American Heart Association required4 years licensed athletic training experience requiredA master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required experience Company Profile Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is north Houston’s first true, free-standing pediatric hospital designed, equipped and staffed exclusively to provide care in more than 25 areas of specialty care for children and adolescents.
