Senior Assessment & Authorization Engineer

This is a Full-time position in San Antonio, TX posted April 24, 2021.

Senior Assessment & Authorization Engineer

Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Engineering, plus a minimum 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

Must have :
Strong communications background (written, spoken) Strong experience in Multi-level Security accreditations, assessments, administrations and system security environments Strong hands-on cross domain interface solutions experience Strong data analysis/forensics experience dealing with system level audit analysis, reporting and investigations Must be able to effectively work in high demanding and dynamic situations based on company/customer needs Experience presenting technical concepts to a variety of audiences Knowledge of government IT security requirements and processes including Risk Management Framework (RMF) Must be able to prepare, analyze and present a variety of security reports and/or metrics Must be able to assist the customer and or staff with technical issues related to security products Hands-on LINUX OS experience is essential The successful applicant must have previous experience in testing, evaluating, and preparing systems for security certification under NIST 800-53 and JSIG and must possess a constant understanding and awareness of IT security requirements especially in regards to DoD, IC, and organizational security mandates, policies and regulations Must be able to travel 20% of the time Must meet or exceed DoD certification requirements for IAM-III (CISSP preferred) Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification is highly desired Information System Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) certification is highly desired 
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance.

Must be willing and able to obtain a polygraph within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager.

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S.

Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S.

citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Assessment & Authorization Engineer.

This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.

General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Participate in and/or lead national level Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities Train and mentor A&A staff member in becoming fully functional technical security engineers capable of providing independent technical work products (data analysis, forensic search/reporting, testing, audit etc…) Lead A&A personnel and Information System Security Engineers on projects specific tasks as need or required  Maintain and deliver systems that can be assessed and authorized in accordance with DoD security requirements and the Risk Management Framework processes Provide system A&A support and services including conducting initial certification tasks and periodic hands-on review of security configurations Ensure government’s security requirements are met, complying with applicable DoD policies and meet all security IA service requirements to protect Government’s Information Systems (IS) Maintain an active repository of security accreditation baseline documentation that will can be used for product certifications, standards, audits etc… Analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate security-related, information system anomalies based on security platform reporting, network traffic, log files, host-based and automated security alerts Effectively navigate the LINUX operating system via the command line utility Create security documentation for use in National Level accreditation activities Conduct and manage continuous monitoring activities to validate network configuration post accreditation and report/correct findings Author policies and procedures based on customer security standards and specific community requirements Perform detailed, in depth Linux command line audit analysis as required Maintain, configure, and analyze network and host-based security platforms Conduct vulnerability scanning and analysis of systems and tools Verify file and system integrity and software Monitor firewall and network access controls lists Monitor web and E-mail proxy and filtering systems Evaluate systems using vulnerability scanners and manual techniques to verify system security settings and configurations Provide reoccurring reports for network and host-based security solutions Participate in continuous improvement processes Maintain and update relevant system and process documentation and develop ad-hoc reports as needed Assist in the development of security tools, trials, evaluations, and security operation procedures and processes Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all team members Provide off-hours support on an infrequent, but as needed basis Successfully manage time and technical responsibilities, set accurate expectations and meet deliverable deadlines while working in a team and information sharing environment Conduct briefings and provide metrics as required by executive management Prepare presentations and provide a level of technical detail as required Review, analyze, investigate cross domain audits Use command-line level activities to configure, troubleshoot, analyze and navigate system level actions Assign access level and/or privileges based on user’s need to know Enforce Enterprise level established security policies Validate Cross Domain profiles against site security levels of processing Develop Cross Domain security policies and procedures Create Insider Threat reports showing statistical privileged use data Technical working management role
INTERFACE:
Primary interfaces are Government Program Manager, Operational Team Leads, internal customers, external customers, suppliers Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all team members and across all teams
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills required to coordinate with the program and government staff.
