Job Summary:

This role will be skilled at working with people, processes, and technology efficiently so that the company can implement and operationalize a comprehensive data governance toolset.

This candidate will play a key role in establishing, building, and managing the Data Catalog and other Data Governance tool capabilities so that the company is set up to manage its internal data assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provide support, guidance, and Subject Matter expertise to the management team for the Data Catalog setup, design, implementation, and ongoing operations
-Provide Data Catalog expertise by providing training and assistance to users in both Data Governance and business areas
-Provide data investigation, root cause analysis, data profiling and data lineage activities
-Support the development of data quality rules, data standards and Governance policies
-Support prioritized enterprise data-related projects related to the Data Catalog and Data Governance toolset
-Be knowledgeable about the Data Catalog metadata and operating model(s)
-Establish procedures and policies that both business and technical users follow to maintain metadata
-Partner with Data Governance team members to build dashboards and data quality checks in the Data Catalog
-Identify solutions that help initiate workflows and monitor issues resolution for governance and quality issues with automatic escalation
-Create various internal presentations which provide context, content and updates on the overall Data Catalog status, progress, challenges, successes, risk, and issues
-Work closely with Sponsors to stay aligned on priorities, projects, updates, and overall status
-Work with Data Governance team members to develop requirements for integration of other tools
-Seek out industry best practices and incorporate relevant ideas
-Support special project work as dictated by the Director and Enterprise Data Managers
-Provide support for Data Governance initiatives


Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study

Work Experience:

-4-8 years’ experience working in a data analyst, data specialist, data governance or similar role
-Experience with Data Catalog tools such as Collibra, Informatica, IBM, etc. preferred
-Relevant Data Quality, Management, IT, Data Governance
-Proven ability to work with technical and non-technical business teams
-Experience with data management fundamentals, including metadata, data quality, data analysis and data governance
-Previous clinical laboratory, health care or health related industry experience preferred
-3+ years’ experience with Quest internal systems is preferred

Technical Training or Professional Licensing:

Information Technology (Databases, Programming, SDLC, Architecture)


-Strong SQL and database skills
-Expertise in MS Excel
-Proficient Metric / Report design and development, preferred
-Strong Analytical skills and the ability to identify trends
-Expertise in metadata management to support governance initiatives
-Comfortable in creatively working with large sets of data
-Strong presentation skills focused on communicating current state driving change management
-Demonstrated leadership skills (project and personal) required
-Ability to communicate effectively with various levels in the organization (written and oral)
-Ability to explain complex or technical processes to someone who has little knowledge of the subject
-Demonstrated ability to understand complex concepts and processes quickly
