Posting Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYManagerial oversight for editorial content across multiple platforms during an assigned shift.

Includes scripts forspecial content, politics and breaking news.

This may relate to important daily news coverage, franchise, feature,or special event coverage and documentaries.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervisory responsibilities for newsroom staff and station personnel working on newscasts with particularemphasis on Producers, Associate Producers, Reporters, Multi-media Journalists, and News Photographers,ensuring the department’s staffing and assignment needs are metSolve the challenges that come with dynamic news coverageDevelop backups for critical coverageOversee decisions on story lineup, video/audio elements, graphics and timing to construct a showWork with Producers to create the newscast productMay fill in for Producers as neededProduce special programming as neededPerform writing, editing and digitizing functions as neededGenerate story and coverage ideas on a daily and long-term basisHandles shift scheduling and approves paid time off when applicableFollow through on all assignments meeting required deadlinesPerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishProficient at inspiring staff to attain station goals of creativity, urgency and accuracyAbility to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organizationExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detailMust be able to work rapidly and accuratelyAbility to anticipate situations, meet strict deadlines, organize and manage multiple prioritiesKnowledge of current events and industry trendsPro-active with demonstrated enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news and high-stress situationsAbility to effectively train othersBasic editing skillsMust adhere to attendance guidelinesMust be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changesWorking knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software and basic non-linear editing systemspreferredEducationBachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred or comparable television work experienceRelated Work Experience Number of YearsProducing and executive producing experience in television news 5+Management experience 2+WORKING CONDITIONSWorks primarily inside a climate controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties onoccasionWorks in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environmentMay be required to lift up to 5 poundsEOECharter Communication is an Equal Opportunity Employer Minority/Female/Veteran/DisabilityMore on SpectrumOur Commitment During COVID-19 Your health and safety is important to us, as such we’re using virtual recruiting tools to safely meet with qualified candidates.
