The Global Edge Consultants leaders within Oil and Energy Recruitment currently require a Senior Specialist Reliability to be based in Sabine Pass, LA.

Basic Functions

The Senior Specialist, Reliability reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and is the technical steward for the predictive maintenance programs such as vibration analysis, lubrication, thermography and improving these programs including all associated documentation.   The Senior Specialist, Reliability is expected to support RCFA on incidents related to Rotating equipment. The incumbent is expected to be dedicated and have a high sensitivity to Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) issues and shall ensure reliability programs comply with Company’s policies and procedures for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal.



·        Serves as the predictive maintenance subject matter expert with primary focus on the development and implementation of programs to improve reliability. Provides daily predictive maintenance support to the plant to keep the plant systems operational. Responsible for managing vibration analysis and lube oil analysis programs. 

·        Works closely with Reliability Engineers, Technical Services, Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians in diagnosis of predictive maintenance related problems in rotating equipment.

·        Determines appropriate locations for vibration data collection.  

·        Collects vibration data on selected equipment, reviews anomalies to determine problem, and make recommendations. Develops and maintains records and routes in vibration analysis software. Effectively manages the vibration analysis software.

·        Determines lube oil sampling locations, reviews lube oil analysis reports, and make appropriate recommendations. 

·        Works with the Reliability Engineers on lubricant selection, consolidation, and lubrication surveys.

·        Assists Production Department in preparing operator routes for physical checks and overall vibrations. Monitors the results of operator vibration routes.

·        Performs thermo graphic scans of electrical, mechanical, and fixed equipment as needed.

·        Performs equipment analysis and works with the Reliability Engineers in troubleshooting plant equipment and production problems.

·        Supports Root Cause Failure Analysis, prepares failure analysis reports and recommends corrective actions.

·        Conducts diagnostic studies and provides detailed analysis of equipment condition.

·        Develops and prepares reports to notify operations and maintenance of equipment health and recommends remaining time to mandatory shutdown or failure of equipment.

·        Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and assistance in planning and coordinating work for the Maintenance Department. Works with maintenance and operations on predictive maintenance issues when they occur; have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems.

·        Develops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.

·        Responsible for ensuring the safety, security, health, and environmental incidents are prevented through frequent job observations and assessments. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.

·        Perform other activities as requested.

Education, Experience and Qualification:

·        Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent discipline, or 5 years of predictive maintenance experience. ISO Category-III vibration certification preferred.

·        A minimum of five (5) years of experience with Predictive Maintenance and rotating equipment in an industrial setting in operations is required. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.

·        Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.

·        Knowledge of CMMS Systems and RCA tools for conducting failure analysis.

·        Very good mechanical knowledge base with typical industrial equipment such as compressors, fans, turbines, etc.

·        An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.

·        Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

·        Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.

·        Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals. 

·        Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.

·        Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.

·        Computer literate including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.


·        Job is performed in an industrial plant environment.

·        Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.

·        Limited travel required, as business conditions dictate.

·        While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, smell, type and write.

·        Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 30 pounds.

·        While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.

·        Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

·        Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.

·        Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, and LNG firefighting.

Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good status
