Staff Engineer – GPU RTL Power

**Position Summary**Samsung is a world leader in System LSI technologies, Memory and LCD.

We are currently looking for exceptional software and hardware talent to join our Samsung Austin R & D Center (SARC) in Austin, TX and our Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) in San Jose, CA.

SARC was established in Austin, TX in 2010 to be one of Samsung’s strategic investments in high performance low power GPU and System IP development for our mobile SOC’s.

Presently our GPU design teams, located in Austin (SARC) and San Jose (ACL), are developing a GPU that will be deployed in Samsung mobile products.

At SARC we also develop System IP solutions for our SOC fabric and the team located in Austin (SARC) is working on Coherent Interconnect and memory controller architectures.As an RTL design engineer, you will work as part of a GPU IP design team.

This is a mid to senior level position where the candidate will be in an individual contributor role, tasked with driving the RTL design of the GPU targeted to mobile and other markets.

Significant RTL design, timing and power experience is critical for success.**Role and Responsibilities**Key responsibilities include:+ Analyzing RTL power estimation reports, debugging block/sub-block level power breakdown, proposing micro-architectural optimizations to improve power efficiency,filing power bugs, and work directly with RTL block owner to fix power issues.+ Communicate the outcome of the power analysis on a regular basis, drive power optimization in RTL to meet power goals, suggest &prototype RTL re-structuring techniques to reduce dynamic & leakage power, review gate-level power reports to understand and propose RTL and gate-implementationflow fixes for sub-optimal gate implementations during RTL to gate transformation.+ Collaborate with project stakeholders including the performance modeling, DV, physical implementation and power/thermal modeling on various tasks including power/performance trade-offs, gate-level power triage, workload-specific power/performance phase behavior analysis, power CAD tools & flow issues.+ Write directed tests for power debug & analysis, debug simulation waveforms for performance bottlenecks, and work with the verification engineers to ensure the power reduction featuresare thoroughly verified.**Skills and Qualifications**Minimum requirements:+ BSEE, Computer Engineer or comparable and 3+ years of experience+ Strong knowledge of GPU/CPU Architecture & micro-architecture+ Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications.+ Understanding of low-power design techniques+ Functional verification of Power management, clocks and reset logic, RTL power-aware simulations.+ Proficient in RTL, Verilog/System Verilog, Logic design+ Experience with RTL simulators and waveform debugging toolsPreferred candidate will possess the following:+ Experience with GPU architectures is a plus* Please visit Samsung membership (https://account.samsung.com/membership/pp) to see Privacy Policy, which defaults according to your location.
