**Full-time, Patient Access Specialist – Austin, TX (Lakeway)** _**24/7 Freestanding ER**_ **POSITION SUMMARY:** Primarily responsible for effective customer service with all Complete Care facilities, including but not limited to patients, vendors, insurance providers, referral sources and co-workers. This will be demonstrated by utilizing excellent in-depth knowledge of company policies, procedures and insurance. Job duties include: accurate posting of data entry, batch/cash drawer balancing, time management, efficient verification of insurance plans, and effectively communicating to patients their financial responsibility. **POSITION REQUIREMENTS:** * 1-2 years of Medical Insurance verification experience preferred * 2-3 years of Customer Service experience * BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required within sixty (60) days from start date * Must be flexible with schedule; including day, evening, and weekend hours per facility needs * Ability to work 12- hour shifts scheduled between 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am * Effectively verify and communicate to patients and their families’ insurance eligibility, billing, collections and payment responsibilities * Collect time of service out of pocket amounts and past due balances * Maintain and balance cash drawer precisely * Follow appropriate HIPAA guidelines by providing medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers and patients upon request * Exceptional interpersonal communication skills * The ability to organize and manage multiple projects * Ability to work independently while dealing with patients in a high-pressure environment * Must partner with clinical and management team to provide patients and their families with excellent service. * Appropriate and effective phone etiquette * Experience with office equipment: multi-functional printer/copier/fax, multi- line phone system and calculator * Willingness to train new hires * Performs other related duties as assigned **Position Qualifications:** * Customer service experience in the medical field * Previous Medical Office experience with Insurance Verification * Experience with MS Office, EMR/EPM systems * Ability to trouble-shoot equipment errors **PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:** The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
