Systemic Risk Office Intern

DTCC

This is a Full-time position in Dallas, TX posted March 1, 2021.

The mandate of DTCC’s Systemic Risk Office (SRO) is to identify, evaluate and mitigate, to the extent possible, risks arising from DTCC’s: (i) activities, products, processes, and systems employed in the normal course of business; (ii) response to an extraordinary market event; (iii) interconnections with other entities; and (iv) potential implications of new products and services.

In addition, SRO also performs market analytics activities for DTCC. As such, it monitors market trends and the macroeconomic environment to inform DTCC employees of ongoing events and emerging risks, with the goal of proactive risk management.   1. Produce concise written research on macroeconomic and market trends and risks, and verbally articulate analysis to risk analysts and executive management;
  2. Perform research and support the production of short thematic reports and white papers on key topics driving financial markets and other initiatives;
  3. Provide various forms of analysis, data, charts, etc. needed to support the interconnectedness risk initiative; and
  4. Execute ad-hoc projects as required.

The scope of the analytical requirements will include both external and internal sources of potential systemic threats to DTCC and/or the securities industry.

Qualifications:

  • Experience writing or contributing to research reports
  • Analytical problem solving and strategic skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in working with Excel and PowerPoint, as well as other Microsoft Office applications and additional software packages, as applicable. VBA and Access skills are a plus
  • Exposure to current events and the macroeconomic environment, with a working knowledge of equity and/or fixed income markets
  • A working knowledge of quantitative risk techniques and tools a plus
  • Candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the following curriculums: Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, MIS or Business & Technology Management
  • Candidates must have minimum of a 3.2 GPA to be considered.
