Usaa: Executive, Consumer Lending Operations And Underwriting


This is a Full-time position in Schertz, TX posted April 1, 2021.

The Executive effectively leads teams responsible for Consumer Loan and Credit Card Underwriting and Consumer Fulfillment.

Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements across all areas of responsibility and introduces procedural changes to maintain control standards while ensuring that all transactions are processed in a timely risk mitigating manner.

Develops and ensures the implementation of a strategic vision for Consumer Loan and Credit Card Underwriting and Consumer Fulfillment.

Champions process excellence and ownership, manages using key and risk performance indicators, and advocates the USAA mission throughout the Enterprise.

Responsible for Consumer Lending to include Funding, Lien Perfection and Account Services Accountable for manual Underwriting for all Consumer Loan and Credit Card accounts, ensuring in-depth credit analysis and exception underwriting of loans to current, new and prospective members Demonstrates executive-level thought leadership, strategy development and operational planning and execution for Consumer Loan and Credit Card Underwriting and Consumer Fulfillment areas in accordance with regulatory requirements, Bank risk and credit objectives Leads implementation and change management efforts across Consumer Loan and Credit Card Underwriting and Consumer Fulfillment and extended Enterprise Support Groups Stays abreast of current market economic conditions, industry and regulatory development and trends, and competitors Partners with leaders in first and second line credit risk to opine on credit policy and strategy and ensure changes are properly implemented Liaises with Compliance, Risk and Legal teams on legal and regulatory considerations that impact operations in accordance with federal and state regulations Leads or participates in business initiatives and cross-functional projects that directly impact or relate to operations of Consumer Loan and Credit Card Underwriting and Consumer Fulfillment and work with each functional leader to promote collaboration, review and tracking of progress Establishes and monitors key performance metrics, taking corrective action and directing the implementation of solutions to bring process performance to the next level keeping the balance between providing an outstanding member experience and managing expenses Builds and oversees a team of employees through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities Minimum Requirements: Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in relevant discipline required 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree Minimum Experience: 10 or more years of bank operations experience in the financial services industry 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required Experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment related to bank operations and technology Advanced knowledge of state and federal regulatory issues impacting the financial services industry Experience working directly with federal and/or state regulators Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization Preferred Qualifications: Prior Underwriting & Fulfillment Leadership responsibilities with a Top 25 Financial Institution, preferably with consumer lending products Understanding of credit risk policy and risk appetite framework Successful track record of leading large (200) diverse teams, both internal and external (off-shore & domestic) Understandingof Third-Party Risk Management policies Prior experience in successfully managing expenses, developing operations metrics and developing strategies to optimize performance Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive.

You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position.

The salary range for this position is: $155,400 $279,800 Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
