Classified Inside Sales Representative (full-time)

The Tyler Morning Telegraph, East Texas’ leading news source, is looking for just such a person to join our classified advertising sales team. This is an entry level position with excellent growth and income potential.

In the role of Inside Classified Sales Representative, you will make outbound calls and answer incoming requests to serve existing customers and create new customers. You will be responsible for influencing business leaders to advertise with East Texas’ leading news source. A successful Classified Sales Representative must be friendly and persuasive with an excellent phone presence. You must be able to learn each customer’s advertising needs and present solutions that meet their needs. The ideal candidate is willing to hear no often to get to that golden YES!

Responsibilities include:

• Working with customers and our Creative Services team to develop and place ads both in print and online
• Actively seeking and closing new print, digital and niche product advertising sales
• Increasing sales by aggressively cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale items

The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, the ability to meet deadlines and a real attention to detail. Prior sales experience is helpful, but we will train the right person. Your experience as a restaurant server, inside store sales, or dealing with the public in other ways may qualify you for this opportunity.

Minimum Requirements

• Previous sales or telephone customer service experience
• High school diploma (an associates degree is a plus)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Fluent speaking and writing in English
• Ability to read, write and speak clearly and concisely with customers
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Microsoft Office and basic math skills
• Persistent and results-oriented
• Patient and able to handle customer rejection
