What You ll Do
As a Field Sales Engineer, you ll be part of our Field Sales Engineering team located in Texas and Louisiana. You will be working in the field and in offices with Structural, MEP engineers and designers to help them keep specifications up to date with the latest Dewalt anchoring solutions and code references. This will include communicating and meeting with and presenting to engineers to discuss technical data and software to help calculate anchor capacities in specific applications to assist in anchor design. You will also be doing hands on demonstrations with Dewalt anchors and tools. Additionally, you will work closely with our field sales team to support with technical assistance for anchor selection and jobsite problem solving. The Field Sales Engineer is responsible for serving as a consultant to structural engineers and MEP engineers for anchoring applications. This involves generating new business and ensuring future growth of specified fastening product line and complimentary tools and accessories. The Field Engineer will accomplish this by working with engineers and designers to specify fastening products, as well as with our sales team to assist contractors and distributors during the bidding, submittal and construction phases of a project. You’ll get to:

  • Develop a strong technical understanding of specified fastening products (under the DEWALT and Elco brands), how they are used in construction and how they are designed in accordance with current building codes
  • Establish relationship with key specifying engineering firms in the territory
  • Influence designers and engineers to specify fasteners through regular scheduled visits, education and technical communication through the full sales cycle
  • Hold regular technical presentations and training seminars for design professionals related to the design of Dewalt and Elco products with a focus on details, product performance, characteristics, applications and code requirements
  • Use technical knowledge of products to support and promote sales on specification and conversion in conjunction with local sales team and provide technical job-site support as needed
  • Provide assistance on proprietary technical anchor design software to clients and communicate customer feedback for future product developments
  • Support local sales efforts from a technical level including jobsite visits
  • Provide market research to sales team in the local territories of any new leads on opportunities
  • Ensure submittals generated by contractors are approved by engineers of record
  • Embrace and become versed in construction technology and future trends influencing the specified fasteners business such as Building Information Modeling, Integrated Project Delivery and construction software.
  • Develop and maintain client records in CRM (customer relationship management) tool
  • Guide local sales team through targeted jobsite support

Who You Are

You also have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent qualifications. Civil/Structural preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in design engineering, technical support or technical sales role
  • Construction Industry / Jobsite experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills both spoken and written
  • Able to handle multiple priorities, organize, plan, and meet deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Interpersonal, follow-up, and documentation skills
  • Comfort in front of large groups and a desire to develop strong presentation skills
  • Out-going, goal-oriented and eager to meet and exceed goals
  • Self-starter with ability to manage own schedule and work as home-based
  • E.I.T / FE certified preferred; Professional Engineering (P.E.) license a plus
  • A valid driver s license and reliable daily transportation required
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Travel Expectations: Up to 60% of time traveling within territory, less than 10-15% overnight travel
