Your Best Career Experience Responsibilities

SunSetter Products LP, is America’s largest manufacturer and marketer of retractable home awnings. The SunSetter Field Sales Representative is an exempt, field-based role responsible for managing leads that are company generated. This is a new position, reporting to the National Sales Director and is in Ft Worth. This position requires conducting in home sales calls that provide a full product description and demonstration, giving an overview of key features and benefits as well as selling add-on accessories. The lead to sale conversion goal is 30%.

A Field Sales Representative manages up to a 50-mile territory running leads provided by SunSetter for potential customers interested in purchasing a SunSetter semi-custom retractable awning. Below is a high-level overview of what you can expect your role and days could look like:

  • For sales leads to be activated, and at any time after sales leads are turned activated if there are insufficient installers to meet potential install demand, the Field Sales Representative is responsible for taking a leading role in searching for, identifying, prospecting (outbound phone and email), candidate screening, recommending, and on-boarding sufficient third-party installation contractors to meet potential install demand. In addition, The FSR documents, tracks and shares progress with SunSetter management to avoid duplication of effort by supervisors and other team members and to assist in selecting and onboarding installers
  • Once leads are “live,” the Field Sales Representative is responsible for managing all leads with the goal of setting in home appointments and successfully converting sales leads into orders
  • Meet or exceed sales metrics established by company
  • Develop the best strategy for scheduling leads: FSR to schedule or leverage Call Center
  • SunSetter’s business model is seasonal – the Field Sales Representative is required to manage anywhere from 1 to 5 or more sales calls per day which will be contingent upon customer lead flow and customer availability. Lead flow ebbs and flow with the Field Sales Representatives geographic territory
  • Generate a daily sales report submitted to SunSetter management
  • Provide efficient and timely support to customers daily
  • Assist the customers as requested to schedule the selected third-party installation contractors to install the Awnings and EasyShades
  • As requested by customer, work collaboratively with the installation contractor to problem solve and resolve customer issues or concerns related to the installation and post installation service needs.
  • During non-lead call day windows, the Field Sales Representative will be responsible for working with the SunSetter Sales Team on a range of initiatives to help increase total US sales. Potential initiatives include, but are not limited to, developing and editing Sales training/selling materials, documenting and publishing in-home consult best practices, conducting competitive call campaigns and in home consults, identifying and screening potential dealer prospects.
  • Attend Home Shows, and all other available resource methods that may produce viable leads for your territory
  • Maintain effective product knowledge and expertise of all company products and proactively become an expert in the retractable awning category and local territory
  • Evening and weekend appointments are necessary
  • Extensive local travel required (no overnights)
  • The Field Sales Representative role will require extensive phone and computer work as the FSR is responsible for documenting and tracking all activity and results which the FSR will share with SunSetter management on a weekly basis.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or related fields preferred
  • At least 2-3 years of in-home sales experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of residential home construction
  • High energy, positive attitude with drive and motivation to be constantly improving
  • Preferably familiar with home industry concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Proven ability to develop and build strong customer relationships
  • Excellent selling skills with ability to create a vision, overcome objections, and ability to close sales
  • Outstanding organizational skills with ability to work on multiple tasks; set daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals
  • Excellent planning and time management skills necessary to individually cover territory
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, competitive, and dynamic team environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a strong ability to think proactively and creatively
  • Ability to travel extensively by car to meet in person with customers and prospective customers, and work non-standard hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Experience and competency in using Microsoft Office software: Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as computer literacy that enables the ability to learn new software
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical activity required includes sitting during extensive local car travel, standing, bending, reaching, lifting (occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds), and prolonged periods of computer work and/or participating in phone or video conferencing on non-lead call days, when submitting reports and updates, and while onboarding third party installers.
