Early Headstart Teacher (Pottsboro)

This is a Full-time position in Pottsboro, TX posted August 30, 2021.

Early Headstart Teacher Description This position starts at $12.00/hr.

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for implementing The Head Start Standards that ensure an educational program that is developmentally appropriate and congruent with the Programs School Readiness Goals.

The teacher is responsible for creating a learning environment that is linguistically, culturally, and educational rich.

Primary Tasks: Assure that all practices and activities are in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, EHS policies & procedures and OKDHS Licensing Requirements.

Responsible for lesson planning and following a classroom schedule that is inclusive of children with disabilities.

Prepare, post and implement lesson plans and posted daily schedule that address all developmental areas.

Guide children through a daily routine; administer appropriate guidance when necessary and implement developmentally appropriate practices.

Achieve Program Goals by incorporating activities and learning that are congruent to Program and School Readiness Goals.

Responsible for documenting and exhibiting knowledge and understanding of child outcomes.

Conduct ongoing assessment observations (i.e.

TS Gold) & developmental screenings (i.e., Brigance).

Utilize curriculum to individualize for each child, and work with each child on their individual developmental level.

Plan, prepare, and attend parent teacher conferences & home visits to discuss each child’s strengths, challenges, outcomes and progress on their individual needs.

Maintain Child Staff ratio safety, supervision and continuity of care at all times in the classroom and/or playgrounds; during regular classroom activities, toileting, diapering, and rest time to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the group Train teacher assistants; delegate assignments and oversee assistant teachers/subs.

Observe, document, and maintain records of each child including Individualized Care Plans, TS Gold Checkpoints and reporting, DECA data, daily attendance, meal counts, daily health & safety checks and/or any accident or abuse reports.

Maintains learning centers using appropriate group management techniques; create and frequently alters learning centers to keep them attractive and interesting.

Responsible for classroom cleaning, and or center sanitizing Prepare and gather materials needed for the next day’s class activities and monitor meal time activities with the group and incorporate learning at mealtimes.

Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings and professional development and classroom observations/assessments and be actively engaged and involved in the transition process of the children moving to their next educational environment to ensure the needs of the children are met.

Promote parent engagement and foster their involvement in Center conferences, parent meetings, center activities and classroom plans.

Other duties as assigned by management Required Education, Skills and Experience: MINIMUM High School diploma or GED Must have or obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA); if no CDA, must be willing to sign a contract Must have knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing Must have the ability to work with children, remain calm, patient and make sound decisions in case of an emergency or difficult situations Must be willing to attend required trainings and/or travel.

Must be willing to work with children with disabilities Must be able to conduct developmental assessments and screenings Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling Must have a valid state driver’s license for appropriate vehicle with a clean driving record Prior experience working with children TARGET Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field Child Development Associate Credential Must have knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing Must have the ability to work with children, remain calm, patient and make sound decisions in case of emergency situations and difficult situations Must be willing to attend required trainings and/or travel.
