Driver Manager
Wayfair is redefining the way customers buy online and one of the key pillars of that strategy is to create a truly differentiated customer experience for large parcel items (e.g., couches, vanities). To enable this differentiated experience, Wayfair is investing heavily to create the first-ever national large parcel supply chain all the way to the consumer’s home. Wayfair Delivers is an exciting, fast-paced, and high-visibility initiative and we are looking for team members who can help disrupt the status quo and redefine an industry through the ultimate home delivery.
What You’ll Do
- As a Driver Manager you will play a key role in defining innovative home delivery best practices to drive network wide improvements
- Provide direct input into the existing processes and tools (both technical and physical) and make recommendations for changes/improvements
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of driver supervisors, driver leads, delivery drivers and associates to drive defined delivery KPIs, and collaborate to solve immediate day to day operational issues
- Oversee daily load out and all driver activity, including but not limited to: delivery visits, truck load audits, and customer follow up
- Develop robust, trusting relationships with key stakeholders and senior leadership, and identify opportunities to improve the operation
- Identify headcount needs and help recruit, screen and hire your team
- Proactively monitor order management and routing systems to optimize routes
- Drive a culture of safety and compliance, partnering with the internal safety group to ensure all OSHA and DOT regulations are being met
What You’ll Need
- Strong leadership skills with previous team management experience
- Strong administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills
- Analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and synthesize multiple points of view into a streamlined action plan
- Proactive in identifying areas of opportunity and driving process improvements
- Familiarity with routing technologies and strategies
- Customer focused and proactive in solving customer issues when needed
- Demonstrated senior presence with thoughtful, articulate communication style. Adept at communicating up and down and at pivoting approach depending on the audience’s needs
- Home Delivery or Final Mile Experience is preferred
- Familiarity with Excel and SQL are a plus.
