Videos Videos Duties Help Duties Summary This position is assigned to the Caregiver Support Program (CSP) and serves as the Program Support Assistant (PSA).

The primary duties of the PSA are program development, assist with data collection, analysis of trends, and implementation of best practices.

The employee provides staff support including office operations, information management, and coordinates and integrates information necessary to the effective and efficient operation of the program.

Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Coordinates and implements a comprehensive outreach initiative designed to facilitate the delivery of services to caregivers and their Veterans at their respective locations.

Serves as the first point of contact and subject matter expert regarding questions about the program, coordination of referrals, building community partnerships, caregiver utilization, data reporting, and any other administrative support tasks required to support the program at the facility level.

Provides resources and referrals to Veterans and caregivers, who are seeking caregiver support services, regarding program services, concerns, appeals of decisions and ratings.

Monitors and evaluates caregiver activities (utilization of referrals/resources, trainings, appointments with the Veteran, caregiver strain, etc.), assessments, and enrollment processes and makes recommendations for improvements for the Caregiver Support Programs.

Represents the CSP at VA staff meetings and community outreach events.

Provides education and consultation to community and VA providers about the program and the MISSION Act.

Locates, organizes, and reports on budget, best practice, completion status of yearly Program measures, application numbers, number of active Veterans and Caregivers participants, pending Program appeals, and Congressional suspense to the CSP Team during scheduled weekly meetings.

Performs the administrative duty of scheduling Veteran and Caregiver assessment, reassessment and contact appointments.

Performs telephone triage and brief assessment
– assists Veterans, families, medical center staff and community agency personnel who are seeking Caregiver Support services.

Tracks and reports monthly and annual CSP funding for assigned program fund control points to include the Caregiver Support Programs oversite budget, time keeping costs for overtime, travel costs and compensatory time for staff, Veteran usage of Respite Care or Adult Day Healthcare, Veteran usage of contracted personal care services, etc.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.

The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: program support such as data reporting; first point of contact for a program; scheduling appointments; coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence; providing administrative and clerical support.

Typing Proficiency: Applicantsmust show possession of the following typing proficiency.

Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.

Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years.

Proficiency skills of self-certified applicants may be verified by administering the appropriate performance test.

You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Business Process Reengineering Communication Computer Skills Veteran and Customer Focus Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, and stooping.

The employee is required to obtain records from files, and carry files, manuals, and other light objects.
