OVERVIEWThe automated logistical specialist is primarily responsible for supervising and performing management or warehouse functions in order to maintain equipment records and parts.JOB DUTIESEstablish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, material control, accounting and supply reportsReview and verify quantities received against bills of contracts, purchase requests and shipping documentsUnload, unpack, count, segregate, palletize and store incoming supplies and equipmentConstruct bins, shelving and other storage aidsSimplify and standardize the collection and use of maintenance dataRaise the quality and accuracy of performance, cost and parts data through improved maintenance managementREQUIREMENTSThose who want to serve must first take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.TRAININGJob training for an automated logistical specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field, including practice in handling and storing stock.Some of the skills you’ll learn are:Stock control and accounting proceduresProcedures for shipping, receiving, storing and issuing stockMovement, storage and maintenance of ammunitionProcedures for handling medical and food suppliesHELPFUL SKILLSInterest in mathematics, bookkeeping, accounting, business administration and/or typingKeep accurate recordsEnjoy physical workInterest in operating forklifts and other warehouse equipmentREQUIRED ASVAB SCORE(S)Clerical (CL): 90Learn more about the ASVAB and see what jobs you could qualify for.COMPENSATIONTotal compensation includes housing, medical, food, special pay, and vacation time.
