Business Functional Manager 1 – Enterprise Program Coverage Team Leader

As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

The Enterprise Program Coverage Team Leader role is part of the Corporate Risk Strategy Planning & Governance Office and reports to the Corporate Risk Front Line Enterprise Programs Leader within SP&G. This role will partner with Corporate Risk Area Leaders, COO’s and Program Team Leaders to execute enterprise programs across Corporate Risk in their Front Line capacity. The Program Coverage leader will execute the programs in partnership with the Senior Risk Leaders, supporting the Risk Area ownership and accountability requirements for each Program. The Front Line Enterprise Programs include, but are not limited to, programs such as Business Resiliency, EUCT’s, Records Management, Fin Crimes, Compliance and Conduct.  

The Leader also:

  • Drives planning and implements strategy across Risk Coverage areas to ensure operational excellence and process efficiency
  • Leads a team of Enterprise Program consultants in specialized roles
  • Contributes to the development of long-term strategies, policies and process advancements

As an Employee Manager, you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically, you will: 

  • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your employees feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them
  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing employees, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following functional areas: business process, quality assurance, strategic planning, or project management
  • 6+ years of management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to turn preliminary or ambiguous information, ideas, or problems into well-defined plans and solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Experience driving and leading organizational change in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Credit risk operations exposure; preferably within Wells Fargo

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and fostering relationships and gaining trust
  • Ability to manage audiences from the board room to the back room
  • Proven track record in managing change through influence versus authority
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, effective, collaborative partnerships, creating alliances among diverse stakeholders with the ability to effectively influence; experience managing key stakeholders effectively by frequently soliciting input and sharing feedback, as appropriate
  • Background in analyzing data, drawing conclusions and presenting case for change
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Effectiveness in driving successful execution of plans; ability to plan, prioritize, and set goals
  • Must be a proactive, detail-oriented and organized self-starter who values personal accountability and thrives under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Agile – able to implement and manage changes

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
