Custodial Manager Third Shift – Franklin & Marshall College

This is a Contract position in Irving, TX posted August 9, 2021.

Job Description: The Custodial Manager must supervise and mentor those employees who maintain campus to ensure the custodial level remains clean, orderly and safe for the Franklin & Marshall College community.

The Custodial Manager will plan, quality inspect, and oversee day-to-day operations of their shift.

This position will provide leadership, training, and performance management for the custodians delivering services to all campus locations Essential functions Prepare, organize and delegate work assignments for Custodial staff and follow up to ensure tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Call in addition personnel as appropriate to meet changing situations on campus.

Provide training in safe and thorough custodial methods and procedures Including training Lead workers, Project Custodians, and Custodians in the safe and proper use of all manual and power tools/equipment such as dust mops, wet mops, buckets, wringers, deck brushes, scrub brushes, vacuums, wet vacuums, chemical dispensers, hoses, foam dispensers, microfiber cloths, KaiVac machines, auto scrubbers, rotary machines, carpet extractors, burnishers, pressure washers, and other tools/equipment as acquired.

Inspect facilities and take corrective action when discrepancies are found during quality control inspections and document findings and actions.

Inventory custodial equipment and supplies.

Prepare orders as needed to ensure to the Custodial staff are properly supplied.

Act as a liaison to campus as an advocate for Custodial Services.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Four to seven years of management experience in Custodial Project Cleaning and General Custodial cleaning, more years preferred.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish required.

Ability to think critically and analytical and to manage projects required.

Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a public setting required.

Ability to work with hand and power tools; work from stepladders, extension ladders, expanding planks, scaffolding and lifts required.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

Ability and willingness to work in environment with sufficient noise to cause a person to shout in order to be heard above the noise level and that includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts of machinery or tools used to perform work, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals required.

The work conditions, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation, can affect the respiratory system.

The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial, cooperative manner with diverse campus population of students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

Successful interview.

Because this position requires driving for College business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S.

or Canadian driver’s license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additional Information: Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, and verification of credentials.

The College will coordinate these verifications.
