Director, Compliance

Director, Compliance


The Director of Card Brand Compliance will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all card brand compliance issues, long-term strategic compliance considerations, and all processes and procedures involved in the department’s operations.

A successful candidate will be able to manage multiple initiatives at one time, based upon company and card brand directives.

What you’ll do:
Oversee and conduct regulatory compliance reviews, audits, self-assessments, and systematic reviews for all credit card products within the scope of responsibility.

Interface with the appropriate card brands to resolve issues related to card brand compliance, security, bulletins, and updates.

Contribute to the development, implementation, and dissemination of policies, procedures, and practices relating to card brand compliance.

Translate regulations and rules into actionable business requirements.

Perform risk assessments and internal control reviews, mapping controls to applicable regulations.

Identify and assist in regulatory change management, including monitoring of applicable federal and state laws and regulations impacting credit card processing products.

Monitor and assess state and federal mandates, card brand operating regulations, and industry standards to assist in product management, sales, marketing, and other functions.

Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies to address those risks.

Identify compliance issues that require follow-up investigation.

Work closely with senior executives and other card services departments to ensure that regulatory compliance inquiries are addressed as requested by internal and external parties.

Serve as a point-of-contact for the company’s associates with compliance related questions.

Practice independent judgment and initiative relative to the company’s compliance operations.

Collaborate with business partners to support the regulatory compliance and operating environment.

Monitor key risk indicators; conduct compliance testing using a risk-based approach.

Interpret and translate between Risk, Compliance, business, and operational teams.

Continually drive for excellence within the team, aligned business areas, and the company as a whole.

Recognize, respond, and assist in remediation of emerging coverage and compliance issues.

Perform control assessments and tests to validate the strength and adequacy of the control environment with respect to compliance requirements, identify gaps, and recommend solutions where needed to support the compliance obligations of the company and its clients.

Prepare formal compliance reports.

Maintain effective working relationships with all business units/groups and external auditing companies.

Provide support to the business unit regarding compliance aspects of new credit card processing products and/or functionalities.

Participate in cross-functional team meetings to implement and execute company initiatives.

Represent the company in compliance-related discussions and meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including product and application development teams.

Participate in any/all training and educational activities necessary to fulfill at least the minimum requirements specified in your department goals.

About you:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred 5+ years’ experience in the transaction acquiring industry 2+ years’ experience with card brand compliance 3+ years’ experience in a people management role Prior experience with card brand registration programs and ADC events preferred Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines Ability to effectively and positively interact with direct reports and other interdepartmental colleagues Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when making decisions Possess a strong understanding of audit standards and best practices Possess strong analytical and organizational skills Ability to work well under pressure with a sense of urgency when necessary Ability to manage multiple tasks across short and medium-term deadlines Competent in Windows based computer applications (i.e.

Outlook, Excel, and Word) and ability to learn and work with additional applications used by the department
