Director, Learning Design and Technology

Reporting to the Sr.

Director, Learning Design and Technology, in this role you will be part of the Learning & Development Center of Excellence (COE) during a period of unprecedented innovation and advancement.

With a long-standing commitment and investment in Learning and Development (L&D), our Global strategy seeks to further evolve and accelerate learning as an imperative for our business across the McDonalds system.

You will partner widely with the Sr.

Director, Learning Design and Technology, the Global L&D Leadership Team, our international market teams, as well as with supporting functions within the Global L&D, Global People Technology, and Global Technology teams to build our learning curriculum and relevant learning experiences, tools and solutions to build skills and capabilities of our global system.

Responsibilities include: Lead the Design and Development service line and team within the Learning Design and Technology Team, including establishing products, services, work intake, service delivery model and leading the curriculum architecture strategy and management of global curriculum.

Provide continuous direction, coaching, guidance and support; lead allocation of team resources to align with critical needs and priorities as needed; create and maintain a solid pipeline of Design and Development talent through continuous talent management, development planning, talent assessment succession planning and performance management.

Contribute to the overall Learning strategies for McDonald’s based on external trends, best practices and knowledge of future of work approaches.

Establish learning design framework and guidelines; and maintain & advance global curriculum with continuous improvement, driving efficiencies and innovation.

Analyze needs to design and develop learning experiences, self-directed on-demand learning assets, programs, and tools for global initiatives and market needs; including management of global translation strategy and scaling of global solutions.

Design extraordinary, engaging learning experiences ranging from core/flagship curriculum to discipline-specific programs.

Partner with Director of Learning Technology to advance learning innovation and use of modernized and relevant learning modalities, including digital, virtual, mobile, personalizedetc.

Partner with Sr.

Director of Strategy and Operations to drive operational excellence of design and development practices, templates, tools; find opportunities for synergies and improved efficiencies.

Meet and engage with subject matter experts, key partners, franchise owners, and learners to conduct needs analyses, define requirements and build the L&D design and technology infrastructure and recommend digital adoption tools and/or implementation of new technologies.

With oversight of multiple projects and partnerships, establish governance process and protocols, and look for opportunities to simplify and iterate to continuously improve and create consistency/scale and drive efficiencies.

Support a culture of collaboration through outstanding cross-functional partnerships, including but not limited to partnerships with: L&D, Global People functional teams, international and US markets, etc.

Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred master’s degree in HR, Instructional Design, Human Performance Technology or related field Recent forward-thinking, relevant experience in both Learning Design/Development to enhance employee performance and/or experience Demonstrated experience developing and leading design and technology programs, solutions and teams that delivered high learner impact and strong business performance Track record of developing innovative learning solutions and leading startegic transformations Expertise across L&D and as a leader with vision for the advancement and progression of the field Experience working cross-functionally with colleagues from a diverse group of backgrounds and professions Proven expertise across variety of human performance and/or learning methods with an excellent ability to engage with people at all levels of an organization, from crew to franchise owners Excellent social, communication and presentation skills and solid influencing, skills to champion and maintain collaborative relationships with key partners, including vendor management and selection Strong business insight, with the ability to credibly make a business case, by linking current and anticipated business challenges with L&D solutions Knowledge of adult learning and L&D current and contemporary market trends and practices is ideal Ability to develop and translate strategic goals into appropriate development and talent programs that deftly balance the evolving priorities of the organization in a way that is forward-thinking with an ability to set direction and motivate team on what is possible Previous experience serving as a learning leader/consultant/advisor in analyzing client needs Exceptional project management skills on complex and evolving work, ability to priortize and used critical thinking skills for resource planning Previous leadership and team management, ability to grow and develop a team Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered.
