Director Manufacturing & Development East Manufacturing

This is a Full-time position in Dallas, TX posted December 5, 2021.

Improves existing operations and establishes new plants. Responsible for ensuring that manufacturing operations of specified plants are structured and carried out in a timely, cost effective manner facilitating corporate growth objectives, profitability requirements, and product innovation


• Analyzes truss plants, then devises and implements a plan for improving the operations of each plant.

• Implements systems to benchmark the performance of each plant on a recurring basis.

• Ensures that the company is optimizing the use of computer technology in its manufacturing operations.

• Conducts market feasibility studies and oversees the opening of new plants, as requested.

• Develops a strategy for using structural engineering as a strategic tool.

• Motivates and leads manufacturing, including setting short and long-term goals and forecasts, establishing and implementing improvement programs and policies and providing training and leadership.

• Enhances the bottom line by optimizing lead times, improving on-time delivery performance, reducing labor and scrap, maximizing all resources, and increasing output.

• Contributes to the development and execution of the company’s operating objectives and facilitates significantly increased growth and profitability.

• Recommends methods, materials, and layouts for improvement based on the current needs and capabilities of current manufacturing processes.

Develops prioritized, annual capital improvement plans.

• Keeps abreast of current manufacturing processes and philosophies.

• Improves product quality and maintains high customer satisfaction.

• Maintains and facilitates high standards including housekeeping and safety.

• Ensures productive and effective relationships with vendors and entities, thereby facilitating highly competitive products at profitable costs and with high quality.

• Other duties may be assigned.


• Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Engineering with a Master’s Degree in Business preferred. 

• Seven to ten years of operations management experience with a majority of that experience dedicated to leading manufacturing operations for a large corporation, utilizing progressive management philosophies and sophisticated systems and strategies. 


• Proven track record of leading manufacturing entities to meet corporate objectives, instilling quality improvements, reducing operating costs, and improving efficiencies.

• Successful manufacturing management experience that encompasses directing quality, manufacturing, engineering, machining, assembly, warehousing, and distribution.

• Previous responsibility for materials management and production scheduling and an understanding of how information systems are used to support these activities.

• Coordinated and managed self-start-up manufacturing location and/or green field sites.

Completed cost analysis and justification process for site selection.

• Thorough knowledge of cost accounting and finance coupled with good business sense.

• Ability to work independently.

Strong work ethic and sense of urgency are required.

• Directed capital improvement process and plan for the organization.

• Solid interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
