Director Of Advanced Practice Provider Services

This is a Full-time position in Houston, TX posted August 31, 2021.

The Administrative Director of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Services develops and leads an advanced practice operational and strategic infrastructure in alignment with entity and system goals.

This role ensures the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective care, based on competency and evidenced-based clinical practice and research.

The director demonstrates the ability to lead individuals and teams across disciplines, is able to work with all levels of staff within a multidisciplinary group, and leads Advanced Practice Providers to contribute to institution-wide initiatives.

He or she provides expertise on advanced practice regulations and oversees the credentialing and privileging process for Advanced Practice Providers in collaboration with the Medical Staff Affairs department.

The director demonstrates financial accountability with operating budgets, provider billing and productivity benchmarks.

Additionally, he or she maintains expertise in clinical competency by involvement with inpatient or outpatient clinical care.

The director leads multiple advanced practice teams across the continuum and has direct oversight for team leaders.

The director has substantial expertise in the dissemination of expert knowledge.

The director contributes substantially to the field of APP leadership as demonstrated through service, awards, honors, or positions held in state, national, charitable, hospital, or multidisciplinary organizations.

Reviews and analyzes the current status of APP practice in each department/SFH service line Determines needs and detects inefficiencies of APP practice in each and make recommendations to address such needs and inefficiencies.

Interacts with Finance, HR, PI, Compliance/Patient Care as well as medical staff leadership across the hospital Establishes hospital wide clinical practice standards and expectations for APPs to ensure optimal clinical and financial performance Incorporates strategies and processes related to recruitment, onboarding and retention of APPs Formulates advancement in APP clinical training, continuing education and career development needs Represents the professional interests and well-being of APPs to senior executive leadership, while developing strategies for ensuring high levels of engagement and low APP turnover.

Reports to the SVP Patient Care administratively and to the SVP Medical Affairs/CMO clinically.

Responsibilities will include: Has direct operational and capital budget responsibility for the following APP Services:Medicine, Surgery, Vascular Surgery, CT Surgery, Orthopedics and Critical Care.

Strong leadership skills, experience and ability to effect change in a matrixed organizational structure Strong clinical experience in acute, hospital based medical care Clear, effective and inspirational communication skills, with comfort in both large and small group settings Strong understanding of APP practice standards and licensing regulations in acute care medicine Familiarity with training paradigms and continuing education needs of all APPs Dedicated to advancing the careers and professional interests of APPs Identifies new and existing opportunities for the optimization of APP practice as well as competency review metrics, financial productivity, clinical outcomes data, and technical skills assessment Supports clinical service line growth and development in the management of patients across the continuum of care Remains aware and conversant with all national certification, NYSDOH and other certifying/regulatory organization policies and standards with respect to APPs Requirements and Qualifications: Proficiency in cross disciplinary models of practice management Active NYS license to practice as an APP in good standing Appropriate board certification Masters or greater in a related field A minimum of 15 years experience managing APPs in an acute clinical setting, hospital and/or health care organization Policy leadership on internal hospital credentialing, privileging, and bylaws Expertise in billing, compliance, and documentation improvement services Advanced Practice Provider business strategy development Administration of advancement and promotions for APPs Development and piloting of new models of care Oversight for APP clinical education (Simulation Lab, Education, Research) Oversight for CRM / TeamSTEPPs / SFH Patient Safety Initiatives Formulation and administration of postgraduate APP residency and fellowship program Promotes recruitment and retention initiatives (including Clinical Tiers) for APPs Enhance onboarding and orientation infrastructure for new hire APPs Advanced Practice Provider research support Oversees staffing and systems analysis to ensure maximum efficiency and quality of care.

Works collaboratively with associated departments to maintain and improve volume, quality and revenue generation.

Maintains high academic and clinical standards and promotes this to the community (branding) by way of lectures, publication and site visitation.

Maintains contact with the State Education Department/NYSDOH to stay current on legislation/rules/regulations which impact APP practice.

Keeps all relevant departments informed of national issues pertaining to utilization of APPs.

Functions as a resource for the SFH regarding APP issues.

Collaborates with the SFH Medical Staff to ensure proper credentialing of APPs.Attends monthly meetings of the Credentials and Medical Executive Committees and serves on other Medical Staff Committees as assigned.
