The Post Oak Hotel is seeking a Director of Beverage to join our Forbes Five Star hotel team.

The Director of Beverage will manage a world-class hotel beverage program across 10 outlet and event concepts including a Grand Award winning wine program.

He or she leads a team of talented Food & Beverage managers, sommeliers, and bartenders to drive sales, control costs, and genuinely delight our guests with an expansive, diverse, and dynamic wine & spirits collection, executed with flawless service and warm hospitality.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  Oversees day to day operations of a large, multifaceted beverage program.

Manages the buying and ordering of all alcoholic beverage items within budgetary parameters.

Maximizes beverage revenue through carefully curated menus.

Ensures menus are accurate and up to date.

Empowers colleagues through comprehensive, regular beverage training and education consistent with Forbes standards.

Develops creative beverage programming that evolves with the seasons and around major holidays.

Assists the sales team in all questions and requests regarding beverage for banquet / group events.

Performs routine monthly inventory and stewards the financial success of the beverage programs by keeping costs in line with budget.

Assists the service staff and management team with basic operations tasks when necessary.

Required Experience & Qualifications:
  The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, and possesses an understanding of restaurant operations and beverage financials.

Possesses a strong knowledge of wine, liquor, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage.

Is a strong leader and public speaker.

Possesses a competence in Microsoft Excel.

All candidates must be able to lift 50lb, and be capable of working on their feet for the duration of their shift.

3-5 years of beverage management experience is strongly recommended.

Advanced or Master Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers preferred.
