Director of Data Management

POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Data Management will be an important strategic member of our organization, ensuring that our existing and future data assets are being leveraged to help monitor, manage, and grow our offerings successfully. In this role, you will be responsible for finding the best ways to surface insights from the data to address the needs of our target markets. You will operate as a subject matter expert of our data pipeline and managing a services team to connect the dots between information needs and technical feasibility. Using your knowledge of technology and our business, you will identify the data assets crucial to our growth while considering the cost-benefit analysis to influence prioritize investments accordingly. As a leader on the IT team, you will manage multiple strategic cross-functional data initiatives that include providing regular status reporting, product roadmap updates, supporting the product lifecycle management process, assist with annual planning, and other responsibilities as assigned. This position will include interacting directly with Product Managers, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations Support, Legal, and other cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has a passion for data and analytics along with leadership and management qualities to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision. He or she must be a great collaborator, organizer and team player who can quickly absorb the nuances of complex, varied data offerings. Data Management Translates strategic product vision to define our data product strategy roadmap for building, enhancing and expanding our data product portfolio for the end-to-end data pipeline. Work with managed service providers on design, definition, documentation and implementation of features for new offerings, data sources, data infrastructure, data security, data compliance and data structure. Document, monitor, and revise product requirements, process maps, use cases, user acceptance test plans, project plans, and go-to-market collateral. Collect and analyze data to determine product direction and define business requirements. Serve as product owner in assisting engineering in the resolution of issues and roadblocks hindering product delivery. Assist in creating product training and documentation materials in support of the implementation and launch of data products. Define KPIs and track metrics in partnership with the management team. Keep informed and evaluate the latest industry news, trends, products, services, competitors and relevant emerging technologies and share perspectives information across teams. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills 5+ years of experience workingmanaging in a data-related field (data engineering, data management, data solutions design, analytics). 5+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading cross-functional coordination, and team communications to deliver an array of data product offerings. Demonstrated technical expert in data pipeline development including setting priorities with solid understanding of business tradeoffs (i.e. cost-benefit analyses). Solid understanding of cloud data management techniques, methodologies and best practices. Strong data analytics or data science background with proficiency in analytic tools languages with an ability to translate business needs into innovative and engaging output. Working knowledge of business intelligencereporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc) with related experience analyzing data as well as writing queries and reports. Proficiency with software development methodologies such as agile and waterfall Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Strong communication skills with translating technology to non-technical stakeholders. Excellent collaborator able to communicate with all levels of the organization. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Analytics, Data Science or related Advanced degree preferred. A proven ability to lead by motivating, inspiring, and supporting team, leaders and management to successfully achieve their divisional and departmental objectives. Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking, identifying key business issues and opportunities, creating business strategies and driving results across internal teams andor external partners. Thorough knowledge of general principles of finance, budget, ITIL, project management, and IT. Ability to communicate to executive leadership in budget, outcome, and delivery while leading teams in an agile manner.
