The Director of Operations provides direction and support for the on-going development of Methodist Hospital solid tumor oncology services for both adults and pediatrics as well as the GI Lab.

This position is responsible for aligning multiple departments (O.R., PPR, marketing, data management and accreditation, Sarah Cannon, pathology, pharmacy, radiology, nursing) in a common mission while fostering interdepartmental collaboration across the full continuum of care.

The Oncology Service line director partners with oncology focused physicians to develop successful growth strategies for the oncology service line.

The oncology service line director ensures maintenance of cancer-specific accreditations: Commission on Cancer (COC) and National Accreditation Program of Breast Centers (NAPBC), in partnership with the Sarah Cannon Data and Accreditation Manager.

Areas of direct responsibility include: physician relationships and alignment, overseeing outreach clinics/ strategy across the region, designing and deploying telehealth applications as needed to support program growth, identifying and addressing operational issues in O.R.

and ancillary departments, developing and implementing capital and space planning for oncology related services, liaising with Sarah Cannon navigation director, RVP, and Data and Accreditation manager, quality and compliance with accreditation standards; and tumor-specific program development and management.

Reports to Vice President Oncology.

nn nn What You Will Do In Your Role: nn Ensures all aspects of Oncology service line operating performance are coordinated to produce quality patient care and attain maximum utilization of staff time and resources.

Collaborates extensively with physicians; CEOs, COOs and CNOs; administrative teams, and department managers.

Functions well in a matrix structure.

Identifies and implements strategic performance improvement and growth objectives.

Works collaboratively with other hospital-based departments and with Sarah Cannon leadership team to achieve optimal performance for Oncology service line programs.

Recommends improvement of hospital facilities in assigned areas, including construction and renovation of structures and purchase of new equipment and technologies.

Ensures that the strategies, priorities and operations are aligned and complementary.

Develops and maintains positive working relationships with oncology physicians, managing expectations and establishing forums for shared governance, communication, and performance improvement.

Encourages and assists department managers in establishing measures of performance including: Increased productivity, market share, quality improvement, cost controls and maximum utilization of facilities.

Collaborates with Finance to review contractual arrangements and reimbursement opportunities.

Advises Vice President and/or Chief Operating Officer where executive action is necessary to accomplish these goals.

Facilitates the NAPBC and COC accreditation process in partnership with Sarah Cannon Data and Accreditation manager; ensures all aspects of oncology service line meet NAPBC and COC standards.

Successfully maintains NAPBC and COC accreditation for Methodist Hospital.

nn Qualifications nn nn What qualifications you will need: nn Master’s Degree required.

Minimum of five years of progressive healthcare/hospital management experience required.

Transplant and/or oncology experience required Clinical experience in nursing or related field strongly preferred.
