This role reports to the ELPC (Electrification Power Conversion) Global Distribution Leader and is located in Plano, Texas. As a Distribution Manager – Gemini, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong as well as productive working relationships with assigned distributors at all levels of their organizations. Develop and maintain promotional programs for the distribution network. In this role, you will work closely with the direct sales team and the business unit to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities

  • Define activities to grow assigned distributors such as marketing programs, training and measure their effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with assigned Distributors and responsible for maintaining personal relationships at all the leadership levels.
  • Assure engagement of our Man Representatives with the branch locations.
  • Plan and implement sales strategies to grow distributor stock and small project business.
  • Coordinate technical training presentations to create preference for ABB (Asea Brown Boveri).
  • Introduce new products to existing customer base and identify new distribution target customers.
  • Meet or exceed assigned annual operating plan.
  • Understand market pricing and keep distributor pricing competitive relative to our competitors.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence and hit-rate information to business and sales leadership.
  • Track sales leads, wins and losses in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, perform analysis on hit-rate data.
  • Recommend and assist in development of distribution marketing programs for New Product Introductions and training to promote ABB products and services.
  • Participate in industry and local distribution organizations to build relationships.
  • Plan and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and margin as well as motivate distributors to prefer ABB over the competition.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical field from an accredited university or college with minimum 5 years of experience in electronics or telecom equipment sales.
  • Position requires the ability to travel an average of 60% of the time during a typical workweek.
  • Job can be located in any continental US location.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
  • 5 years of experience selling through distribution would be preferred.
  • Requires strong communication and presentation skills including both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and telecom industry and products.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with distributors and manufactures representative would be a plus.
  • Customer focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Strong coordination and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of customer financial drivers / needs.
  • Ability to utilize CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software and sales tools.
  • Outstanding integrity, honesty and forthright individual who is direct with superiors, peers and functional counterparts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong sense of priority.
  • Ability to work independently and a strong team player.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office applications.
