Global Professional Services & IT Category Manager

Cabot Corporation

This is a Contract position in Houston, TX posted March 23, 2022.

PositionSummaryKey strategic partner of Human Resources, Legal, Finance, SH&E and IT.

Develops commercial sourcing strategy in alignment with key stakeholders.

Negotiates critical contracts at the local, regional or global levels.

Implements Global Purchasing and Cabot Corporate policies and procedures for the assigned portfolio.

Provides direct management, guidance, and leadership to purchasing staff and/or BPO partner.

Location of this role can be remote in EMEA or NA, preferably near Cabot location or major airport.

JobResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements purchasing strategies that incorporate contracts, purchasing tools and supplier management techniques.

Partners predominantly with HR, Legal, Finance, SH&E and IT to identify opportunities, aggregate and standardize goods and services as required to leverage purchasing power and optimize working capital.

Participates on all major Projects as a Core Team Member and sometimes as the Project Lead, developing the strategy for sourcing, supplier selection, total cost of ownership evaluation, negotiation, contract development, Selects suppliers and negotiates contracts for assigned portfolio of goods and services contracts can be negotiated at local, regional or global level.

Communicates, implements and executes purchasing strategies, policies and procedures.

Shares information and supports “best practice” sharing within Purchasing and Information Technology and ensures interface and communication with other inter-related Cabot groups.

Ensures the development and review of market intelligence for assigned portfolio of goods and services.

Work with Peers, Trade Associations, and Advisory Service Organizations to stay updated with industry trends and changes.

Insures a thorough understanding of the current technology, licensing, pricing, distribution, service, and contracting models within each specific area of the Portfolio.

Provides Supplier and Contract Management for the assigned Portfolio.

Manage key Suppliers with global or critical Contracts to Cabot and manage all other Suppliers as required.

Review Statements of Work and ensures Amendments for existing Contracts meet stakeholder requirements.

Respond and resolve issues globally around contract issues, technical and operational support, invoicing, etc.

Manage or lead Purchasing staff within a region.

Effectively practices Performance Based Management by coaching and developing matrixed employees, and assuring effective alignment with the matrix functions.

Reviews reports and trend analyses related to commodity specific spending and current status vs.

goals.

Performs global spend analysis annually for the assigned Portfolio.

Recommends and implements changes to achieve cost reductions and efficiencies.

Ensure compliance with Purchasing Ethics, Purchasing Policies, Sarbanes-Oxley 404, ISO and Corporate Standards, Cabot Values, audit rules, laws, etc.

Builds and maintains positive business relationships with suppliers and users.

Possess understanding of the business; mission, strategies, and goals.

Understands the critical success factors Collaborate on approach and process while providing a high level Purchasing and Business Value.RequirementsStrong knowledge of Purchasing profession within multinational industry.

Strong understanding of contract language terms and conditions as well as contract drafting from Cabot templates and supplier agreements.

Understanding of marketplace relating to a particular portfolio of goods and services.

Solid understanding of business issues and financial principles.

Computer skills; knowledge of Office Professional, Outlook, SharePoint, Lync and purchasing applications.

Full understanding of purchasing systems (especially Coupa Tools, and the purchasing module within JDE ERP System, and interfaces with Finance, Treasury, Project Management, (job costing, planning and forecasting), Supply Chain and Cabot Functional Areas such as Human Resources, SH&E, Legal, etcCommunication and Presentation skills:Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to articulate ideas convincingly, negotiate contracts and solutions to complex problems.

Ability to provide feedback and direction to others.

Ability to make presentations and address varied audiences.

Leadership skills.

Ability to motivate and engage team members.

Purchasing certification or equivalent required.

Masters degree in business preferred.

8-10 years industry-related purchasing experience.
