Hiring Business Manager

An experienced people manager, heading up a regional consulting group as an integral part of the global consulting team; provides team leadership and strategic support for consulting staff and associated services.


  • On a regional level, provides an Emergo consulting team of up to 10 reports with day to day direction and assistance related to pre-market and post-market consulting services; offers feedback and suggestions for optimal service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Works with direct reports to set performance expectations, develop career plans and provide feedback and support to achieve their objectives. Offers and acts as a path of escalation where needed


Business Objectives:

  • Profitable Growth – Ensures team meets overall financial targets (revenue, profit, billable utilization) and set priorities to achieve these while ensuring quality of output
  • Customer Centricity – partners with sales and consulting teams to identify effective strategies, resources, and solutions for customers to meet compliance requirements and get products to market efficiently and into the hands of users and patients.
  • Facilitates Business Development assistance with SME input to support lead follow-up, proposal development and close sales
  • Translates data into meaningful insights present recommendations to key decision makers

Resourcing and Allocation:

  • Creates individual plans to chart professional development and assess performance on a regular basis. Offer career counseling and drive high morale
  • Supports Global Consulting manager and work with Global Resource manager to implement and execute capacity and capability strategies
  • Successfully translates customer needs into an operational plan to fulfill projects with the right resources (availability, skillset)
  • Works with Global Consulting Manager on hiring strategy to fill perceived gaps and engage SMEs to assess potential consultant recruits based on CVs and interviews
  • Partners with Project Management and Business Development for effective project assignment

Cross Functional:


  • Works with counterpart Consulting Managers to develop strong, flexible cross-regional networks and add value for our global customers
  • Responsible for collaborating with multi-functional teams to drive initiatives to provide broader service offerings. Partners with Management, Business Development, Operations, Accounting and other functions to achieve financial goals, growth, understand areas of development and process improvements
  • Works closely with the regional project management team and acts as lead for work involving complex deliverables, as identified, and/or where a team approach with multiple functional group delivery is required

Quality System and Service support:

  • Actively contributes to the development and enhancement of consulting services via digital management tools and systems
  • Assists with creating and maintaining related work instructions, templates, and other service-related procedures
  • Communication and training of same to employees and contractors to ensure consistent practices
  • Supports Marketing with coordination and review of marketing materials related to consulting services and regulatory communications.

  • A University Degree, preferably in the field of business, science, technology, or engineering
  • 5-8 years of direct people management and team supervision
  • Experience in consulting services, business management, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance an advantage
