What you will do in this role:


Manager (RN) – Emergency Room

Rio Grande Regional Hospital   – McAllen, Texas 

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide leadership within the Emergency Department  in order to meet and exceed organization/departmental expectations
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring and evaluation process.  Evaluations are completed in a timely manner and by due dates.
  • Ensures new staff is preceptor and assimilate/become engaged in timely and competent manner.
  • Provides leadership related to achieving department goals, conflict resolution, coaching and counseling, learning/adhering to policies and procedures and effective communication.
  • Responsible for daily staffing patterns and pre-scheduling of department staff. Makes ongoing/daily adjustments to meet census staying within allotted guidelines and Plus targets.
  • Investigates and follow-up on all patient complaints/concerns. 
  • Provides positive feedback to staff/area of complaint/concern, voiced by patient. 
  • Consults complaints/concerns to the ED Director.
  • Provides resources and education of staff regarding clinical documentation. 
  • Demonstrates competency in all computer based management programs for which he/she has access.
  • Assist with patient care responsibility when indicated by patient census.
  • Effectively assists the Director of ED in communicating and implementing recommendations that have been identified to improve unit dynamics and patient outcome.
  • Available as a resource person for staff regarding appropriate hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Performs daily patient rounds on all patients and reports any issues to director.
  • Oversees all Process Improvement which includes unit specific projects, Core Measures and all regulatory compliance


What you will need for this role:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN preferred
  • 2 years recent clinical experience and competence in Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care.
  • 2 years supervisory experience required
  • Current Texas state license (RN)
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association  Basic Life Support course (BLS or BCLS) and certificaltion required 
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support course (ALS or ACLS) and certification required 
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support  course (PALS) and cerification required 
  • TNCC
