Senior Manager, Material Master Data Governance

  • Primary responsibility for the Global Item Master (GIM). GIM is a global data warehouse that is used for collecting, organizing and communicating Stryker’s product portfolio. This system supports global transfer pricing, standard cost management, intercompany trading and global sales reporting.
  • Manage a direct team of professionals responsible for the GIM data quality and they will also engage with GIM divisional data providers and the GIM customers. This position provides key leadership for daily operations of the Global Item Master as well as design, testing, and roll-out of new functionality on the GIM platform.
  • Support the development and implementation of end to end Material Master Data strategies with other global system owners including SAP, Sphere and OnePLM.
  • Support Product Master Data with leadership of both Stryker’s Commercial and GQO Groups.
  • Interact with and influencing key global stakeholders (SLT, VP, Sr. Director, Director, etc.) to educate, build consensus, make decisions, and execute plans and programs that utilize and support product master data standards.
  • Create and oversee Material Master Data governance procedures as well as maintain a current version of the GIM corporate policy through periodic reviews and implement necessary updates when applicable to ensure end to end Material Master Data Governance.
  • Manage the GIM budget, including recharging policies.
  • Direct responsibility for team of data professionals including building an engaged culture that is customer oriented. Also has indirect responsibilities for other data stewards within the business including divisional representatives as outlined in Accounting Policy # 19
  • Promote and develop the GIM and SAP platform as it pertains to Material Master Data throughout Stryker Corporation.
  • Integrate acquisitions into Material Master Data systems.
  • Integrate with SAP and other technology deployments.
  • Develop and provide quality metrics and training to the Divisional Representatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with the divisional GIM project managers to help ensure a smooth user experience at each division. Establish a framework of one representative for each Product Franchise
  • Provide Leadership with other corporate material master data systems including: OnePLM, Sphere and SAP and recommend end to end material master data solutions.
  • Provide end to end solutions on material master data to leadership of the Commercial and GQO Groups.
  • Work within master data governance program to determine when new attributes will be added.
  • Establish metrics and provide to Master Data COE Leadership.
  • Decide master data requirements for existing applications and build new requirements based on business needs. Audit and support integrity of master data attributes for these business needs.
  • Responsible for development, prioritization, and ongoing maintenance of the GIM development portfolio.
  • Oversee and ensure an accurate reconciliation process set by the Internal Controls team.
  • Coordinate with all Stryker sites to obtain reliable and accurate information required to support new and existing systems that are customers of GIM.
  • Ensure accurate documentation is maintained for all GIM processes.
  • Responsible for the planning, integration, and communication of new business models and acquisitions onto the GIM platform.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline;
  • Advanced degree preferred;
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance, Business application Management and/or project management role required;
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen with a basic understanding of financial reporting.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships in a highly matrixed, decentralized environment.
  • Able to work under time pressures without compromising accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and translate business requirements and needs into system reporting capabilities and outputs.
  • Comfort with technology and database systems; does not necessarily need to be a technology or systems expert.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent project managements skills including the ability to plan, execute, and control projects under tight time constraints.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to effectively persuade and influence others without direct authority.
  • Collaborative and flexible with a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
