MTC: Chief Of Unit Classification (Program Supervisor I)

This is a Contract position in Kyle, TX posted March 22, 2022.

Position Summary:Reports to the major of CO’s. Supervises the records clerk andcount room clerk. Responsible for the management of classification,which includes case management and reception/discharge proceduresin compliance with Management & Training Corporation(MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)directives.EssentialFunctions:1. Serves as the unitclassification committee chairperson; schedules appropriate unitpersonnel to participate in committee; monitors the committeedocumentation to ensure in is within policy; schedules offenders toappear before the committee for assignment of appropriate custodylevels, housing and work assignment, protection andsafekeeping2.Provide staff training, evaluate staffperformance and recommend and implement department and personnelchanges as approved by the major, programs and coordinated with thehuman resources supervisor prior to implementation. 3.Ensure facility does not exceed its capacity.4.Review housing and job assignments or changes in relation tomedical restrictions or security needs including Security ThreatGroup (STG) of the offender.5.Maintain up-to-date andaccurate reports for submission in a timely manner asrequired.6.Review that unit orientation is completedand all required contents are addressed within the requiredtimeframe.7.Ensure the Heat Restriction Roster isprinted daily and given to security. Ensure all staff have read andare familiar with the directive.8.Oversee changes tooffender visitationlist.9.Responsiblefor offender grievance responses concerning classificationmatters.10.Maintain offender job description for everyoffender job within the facility.11.Conduct self-auditsand maintain documentation to meet ACA and contractualrequirements.12.Oversee count room activity.13.Oversee the development and maintenance of offender filesand ensure files are transferred or scanned and monitored inaccordance to policy.14.Promote development of positivesocial skills through modeling appropriate behaviors andintervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provideregular feedbackto staff regarding social skills procedures andintervention techniques.15.Maintain accountability ofstaff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.Education and ExperienceRequirements:Bachelor’s Degree from acollege or university accredited by an organization recognized bythe Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by theUnited States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work ina Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred.Each year of experience as described below in excess of therequired (3) years may be substituted for (30) semester hours froman accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis. Three(3) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody, lawenforcement, Offender case management, or correctional unitoperations experience. One (1) year full-time, wage-earningOffender classification experience required. Valid driver’s licensein the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unlesswaived by management.#zr#talent
