Outside Sales Manager

This is a Full-time position in Ennis, TX posted March 29, 2023.

Position Summary/Objective: The Outside Sales Manager is a business development and customer relationship sales management role at Gemini LSV. This position is primarily responsible for driving growth for the Gemini Pro-Shop and Integration team via the pro-active development of new sales leads as well as vetting incoming leads from call-ins, referrals and the marketing department. This position will also be responsible for maintaining existing clients and assisting with customer service needs. The outside sales manager is responsible for entering new client contact information and quote requests into the CRM and quotations software and ensuring a proper hand-off to the Quotations Manager and/or Pro-Shop staff for quotations and the Installation Manager for customer service needs. The Outside Sales Manager is the central point of contact for the client. This position will be located in our Dallas TX facility with significant travel.

Salaried Exempt: Compensation will be competitive: salary + significant commission potential.

Paid sick leave is offered the first day of employment and is allocated per quarter in which the start day falls.

This position will be located out of our Dallas, TX facility with significant travel in and around the DFW metroplex, as well as occasional overnight travel within TX, OK, LA.

Essential Functions of the Outside Sales Manager: While not all-inclusive, following is a list of primary and general duties. In addition to these listed duties, this position shall also perform other tasks as assigned, shall abide by all provisions of the Employee Manual, and shall participate in all company initiatives and projects.

  1. Under the guidance and supervision of the VP of Sales & Integration, develop an aggressive outside sales business development plan to grow awareness of the products and services of the Gemini LSV Pro-Shop and Integration department to the following, but not limited to, key market segments: K-12 & Higher Education, Houses of Worship, Theatres, Arenas and Professional live-entertainment producing organisations, Broadcast, Exhibit, Hospitality and Corporate.

  2. Maintain existing clients year over year.

  3. Vet new leads and service new clients for all of Gemini LSV’s products and services.

  4. Identify and offer solutions for client projects that meet the demands of the client’s budget, Gemini LSV pricing policies, and all safety regulations.

  5. Communicating with and evaluating complex technical systems needs within the following, but not limited to, market segments: K-12 & Higher Education, Houses of Worship, Theatres, Arenas and Professional live-entertainment producing organisations, Broadcast, Exhibit, Hospitality and Corporate.

  6. Communicating with and evaluating complex technical systems needs with Electrical Contractors, General Contractors, Architect and Engineers.

  7. Communicating with and evaluating complex technical systems needs with Theatrical and Audio-Visual consulting firms.

  8. Work with Manufacturers Reps and Manufacturers towards developing Div 11 & Div 16/26 specification work.

  9. Work with the Pro-Shop and Integration teams to ensure the needed CRM entries and proposal documents and information are completed in a timely manner in accordance with departmental procedures and deadlines of the production team. Engage with urgency when needed by others to assist in completing these tasks.

  10. Properly review proposal documents pursuant to company quoting standards and policies, and successfully present and close sales opportunities.

  11. Manage communication and expectations with our clients regarding cost and schedule.

  12. Be accountable for the collection of signed contracts and deposits on every contracted sale.

  13. Complete expense and other company-required reports in a timely manner as required by company policy.

  14. Attend conventions, trade-shows and meetings as required when there is direct responsibility to obtain internal/external customer and market feedback for areas of success and areas for improvement.

Required Education and Experience for the Outside Sales Manager

  1. Minimum 5-years experience in a direct business and outside sales development role for integrated lighting, sound and video systems.

  2. Minimum 5-years experience in theatrical lighting systems design and upgrade.

  3. Minimum 5-years experience in AV systems design preferred but not required.

  4. College degree in technical theatre studies is preferred but not required.

  5. Experience serving as the primary point of contact to a customer base is preferred.

  6. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required.

  7. Experience with rigging and safety regulations is preferred but for the right candidate, training will be provided.

  8. Ability to work within deadlines and to multitask are required.

  9. Possessing a keen attention to detail with strong organizational skills is required.

  10. Ability to solve our clients’ problems and needs with creative solutions is required.

  11. Being comfortable connecting to new people. Accepting wins and losses without lingering effects is essential.

  12. Ability to follow established company policies and procedures, and make recommendations for changes.

  13. Strong computer skills are required as per our sales process and use of CRM.

  14. Ability and willingness to be coached to learn and grow their skill set will be necessary for success in this role and with the company.

  15. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities of the Outside Sales Manager

  1. No direct report at this time but may be assigned either temporary supervision responsibilities or future staffing based on growth needs.

  2. Monitor the work of Gemini LSV Pro-Shop and Integration team staff as necessary for successful completion of proposals and contracts.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and on the road with client meetings, and engagements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The person in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and must move about occasionally inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and have routine contact with individuals in the office. The person in this role must frequently climb stairs, travel in a vehicle or by plane and have the ability to move about both indoor and outdoor venues with stairs, ladders and multiple levels. This person in this role must be willing to drive to multiple locations and venues for extended periods of time. This person in this role must be able to lift 25lbs routinely and 50lbs occasionally.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried/exempt position. Hours of work are a typical work day schedule, except during high travel/high volume sales periods when evening and weekend work will be required.


This position requires frequent travel; at least 40% of the time. Travel will be mixed; local and outside the local area and overnight.
