Summary: Responsible for managing the daily operations of the Global Development Center (GDC) prototype shop supporting DePuy Orthopedics, DePuy Spine, DePuy SRT and DePuy Mitek.

Development and enhancement of reusable contemporary and single use instruments.

Work with designers and suppliers to optimize the functionality of the instruments while minimizing the cost.

Responsible to manage the financial goals by managing resources, shop equipment and scheduling to meet customer requirements while maintaining overtime constraints.

Continuous improvement is an expectation to deliver the highest level of customer service at a competitive cost.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:
• Managing GDC operations to ensure delivery, quality and cost targets are met Managing the GDC relationship with all op cos, providing design feedback, prototype instruments and fixtures to support the New Product Development
• Assigning staff and instrument makers to the projects to ensure timely delivery for all surgeon meetings and labs
• Providing operational support for development teams — to enhance design, an instrument enhancement program for the Attune Intuition instrument set Extended Duties:
• Support all EHS&S activities not only in the GDC, but throughout the Raynham and Bridgewater facilities.

• Ensure EHSS objectives and targets are established for all employees as applicable to their role.

• Ensure EHSS training for all employees is assigned and complete on-time
• Ensure EHSS procedures are implemented, followed, and monitored to ensure EHSS compliance
• Ensure EHSS Good Saves and Incidents are reported promptly in CURVE, investigated, and CAPAs completed on time.

• Ensure EHSS is integrated into the department processes and meetings including: MOC, JSA, EHS walkthroughs, GEMBA, and CURVE CAPAS & resources
• Coordinating the GDC Tool Maker Apprentice program via interactions with local VocTech schools
• Attending recruiting events and job fairs o Interviewing candidates, assessing their qualifications and selecting the best fit for the GDC o Assigning Mentors
• Performing progress reviews and reporting to the school intern/co-op coordinator
• Working with the transformational technologies like 3D printing and MIM to ensure that printed/molded components can be further processed and finished to the print requirements
• Process and traveler development for prototype components and finished goods Qualifications
• A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required with a focus in Engineering or related discipline preferred
• A minimum of 8 years of overall, relevant experience is required
• End to end knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials is required
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices is required
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints is required
• Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is required
• People management experience is preferred
• Project management experience is preferred
• Machine shop experience is preferred
• Medical Device manufacturing experience is preferred
• CAD background is preferred
• NC Programming knowledge is preferred
