Job OverviewRegulatory & Scientific Affairs plays an integral role in bringing new products to the market in the shortest possible period while ensuring that all ingredients and packaging materials are safe to use in, or in contact with, food and beverages. All marketed products must maintain full compliance with local regulations while they are on shelf and available to consumers. Regulatory & Scientific Affairs plays a pivotal role in ensuring that KDP products are safe and compliant while maintaining a competitive edge regarding claims, labeling, and advertising.The primary role of the Regulatory Affairs Manager – Packaging is to ensure regulatory compliance and safety of all packaging materials, with a focus on food contact materials, for all KDP products. The position will also have oversight of regulatory compliance for all KDP appliance accessories. A secondary role will be to support of the food & beverage regulatory team as needed.The Regulatory Affairs Manager Packaging will be tasked with overseeing the creation and evolution of a new packaging regulatory process, which will include verification of U.S & Canada regulatory compliance for all packaging material, integration of data and document systems, and substantiation of packaging related claims. The Manager will work very closely with the Sustainability, Pod Innovation, Packaging R&D & Packaging Quality teams to help guide development and substantiation of packaging/recycling related claims for marketed products. This position will also be responsible for labeling of appliance accessories and substantiation of all claims on accessories. Additional responsibilities include monitoring of information from government and technical sources relevant to packaging materials used by KDP and communication of relevant regulatory information to provide guidance to the appropriate business units and project teams.Job Responsibilities:+ Analyze supplier packaging specifications to assess food safety, compliance and contaminant levels by working cooperatively with R&D Scientists in packaging and product development, Sustainability, Marketing, Legal, and Regulatory across all business units.+ Define a new Packaging Regulatory Process for KDP products requiring critical collaboration with the Packaging R&D, Pod Innovation & Packaging Quality teams.+ Review and approve all accessory and some beverage product labeling to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, and/or market authorizations, where applicable.+ Provide Regulatory support for launch of new products by reviewing briefing documents and labeling for consumer studies and new products and/or claims.+ Ensure appropriate scientific support of all packaging, accessory, appliance and product claims to obtain the most competitive labeling possible.+ Monitor Regulatory environment as it pertains to packaging and participate in industry trade associations.+ Identify impact of regulatory changes on products and communicate them to external and internal customers as appropriate.+ Support resolution of competitive complaints from and to regulatory authorities and competitors, under the direction of the R&D/Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Director, Legal and Quality.+ Identify and provide resolution to strategic and tactical regulatory issues pertaining to packaging claims, packaging safety and accessory & food labeling.+ Manage complex cross-functional projects to deliver against packaging, accessory, appliance and regulatory initiatives.+ Provide periodic updates to the Director of Regulatory & Scientific Affairs on project initiatives, planning and execution; business goals and objectives, in order to ensure alignment for areas of responsibility.+ Manage all paper and electronic files and information management databases for responsible areas.+ Support the regulatory group in, improving and complementing systems, processes, tools to enhance effectiveness and efficiencies of the Regulatory & Scientific Affairs team.+ Build liaisons within division/departments on local and global levels.Requirements+ University degree in a scientific field (B.S., Toxicology, Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Nutrition) required. M.S.
