Sr. Director National Accounts – Field Based

Phathom Pharmaceuticals is a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to transforming the treatment landscape for people suffering from gastrointestinal (GI) diseases related to acid.

Our initial product candidate, vonoprazan, is a potassium competitive acid blocker (P-CAB), a new class of anti-secretory medicines with potential applications in GI diseases.

The Senior Director, National Accounts position reports to the Vice President, Head of Market Access and is responsible for developing and leveraging relationships with the nation’s top PBM and managed care organizations to gain and maintain access for Phathom products.

This strategically important role for the organization is responsible for the implementation of short
– and long-term business plans that will optimize appropriate coverage and minimize barriers for prescribing and Rx fulfillment.

This individual will have broad managed care knowledge and established relationships with one or more PBM’s/National accounts.

He/She will assess national and regional payer landscapes and develop strategies for access and pull through sales in collaboration with Phathom leadership.

The Senior Director is expected to maintain strong relationships with Medical and Pharmacy Directors as well as other key personnel within assigned accounts.

He/She is expected to work with minimal supervision and strategic independent thought.

This individual will work closely with Marketing, Sales, other Senior Directors of National Accounts, Finance, Legal, HEOR, and others to execute the Phathom business plan and objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Implements strategies and tactics to obtain formulary placement for Phathom products with key customers across commercial and Government channels.

Negotiates strategic and cost-effective contracts that allow patients to have access to Phathom products without excessive barriers or burden.

Full understanding of PBM business models, Medicare Part D and both FFS and managed Medicaid.

Creates clear messages for dissemination to sales on important payer trends, and coverage dynamics that will affect product utilization.

Attends/participates in relevant payer trade conferences and key industry meetings.

Maintains accurate account information.

Has familiarity with 3rd party data including but not limited to Iqvia Xponent/plantrack and FIA, Symphony claims/APLD, and MMIT analytics/radar platforms.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum 8 years field-based pharmaceutical/biotech Sales and/or Marketing experience with at least 4 years of direct managed care experience Established relationships with Pharmacy Directors and Medical Directors within select National accounts, including at least 1 major PBM.

Role model of the company vision, mission and values.

Experience in non-specialty, retail Rx market is preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of insurance benefit designs, decision-making process for formulary inclusion, utilization management techniques, HEOR concepts and knowledge of patient support programs is required.

Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written and presentation abilities Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.

Experience negotiating contracts and agreements.

Outstanding consultative and networking capabilities Delivers and implements Business Account plans for all assigned customers and outlines required financial expectations.

Develops and sustains highly collaborative and effective cross-functional working relationships with colleagues.

Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.

Ability to skillfully negotiate in tough situations with both internal and external groups.

Understanding of organizational behavior, corporate culture and be able to flourish in a complex and rapidly evolving workplace.

Field-based role with travel anticipated to be greater than 50%.

Candidate must live in reasonably proximity to a major airport.
