Survey Project Manager

nnJob Summary: nn nnThis position is responsible for the direction of survey technicians, staff surveyors, project surveyors, and/or field surveyors.

They must be able to work under minimal supervision while reviewing work done by others as well as preparing, scheduling, and maintaining a budget.

nn nn n nn nnAccountability and Duties: nn nnEnsures timesheets are submitted accurately and on time nn nnProvides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a daily basis nn nnKeeps supervisors informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services nn nnMaintains a good relationship with clients and staff nn nnWorks closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects nn nnAvailable to occasionally work in the field performing surveying tasks nn nnOrganizes and maintains survey job files (electronic and/or paper) nn nnAccurately prepares field work orders for field surveys nn nnAccurately prepares legal descriptions with minimal supervision nn nnAccurately prepares survey control sheets with minimal supervision nn nnAccurately prepares boundary survey calculations with minimal supervision nn nnAccurately prepares block sheets for construction staking with minimal supervision nn nnAccurately reviews engineering plans for construction calculations nn nnAccurately prepares the title review summaries for ALTA Surveys nn nnAccurately calculates lot geometry for subdivision plats nn nnMentors and trains office and field surveyors nn nnAccurately reviews completed Houseline Plats nn nnAccurately reviews completed topographic surveys nn nnAccurately reviews completed plats of survey nn nnAccurately reviews completed ALTA surveys (including title)nn nnAccurately reviews completed easement plats nn nnAccurately reviews completed dedication plats nn nnAccurately reviews completed lot geometry and subdivision plats nn nnAccurately reviews completed legal descriptions nn nnAccurately reviews completed survey control sheets nn nnAccurately reviews completed block sheets and construction calculations nn nnAccurately reviews completed Boundary Survey calculations nn nnPrepares and monitors project budgets nn nnPrepares proposals and ensures proposal protocol is followed nn nnEnsures that services being provided are covered by contract scope nn nnPrepares and monitors project schedules and timely completion of projects nn nnParticipates in marketing, sales, and business development efforts nn nnCompletes projects on time and within budgets nn nnMonitors quality of plats, documents, and other deliverables nn nnMaintain, monitor, and develop field and office survey standards nn nnManage staff and project workload and meet project deadlines nn nnReview and approve staff timesheets on time nn nnMentoring and job coaching for staff and complete annual staff reviews nn nnAssists in resolving any HR issues with direct reports nn nnEffectively communicates with and keeps supervisor informed nn nnCommunicates closely with other disciples and/or sub-consultants nn nnDevelop, maintain, and enhance relationships with existing clients nn nnWorks with passion and a positive attitude and cooperates toward the common goal nn nnEnsures that contracts are approved and signed by client nn nnAccurate billing for projects including additional services for out of scope items nn nnMonitors and addresses unbilled time nn nnMonitors and resolves past due A/R nn nnAddresses back charges immediately and monitors status nn nnMarketing and business development for new clients nn nn n nn nnQualification Requirements: nn nn6-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

nn nn n nn nnEducation and/or Experience: nn nnBachelor’s degree in Surveying from an accredited four-year college or university nn nn n nn nnCertificates, Licenses, Registrations: nn nnValid driver’s license, Licensed Land Surveyor nn nn n nn nnRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: nn nnExcellent oral and technical written communication skills nn nnStrong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines nn nnAbility to work independently and as part of a team nn nnAvailable to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary nn nnAbility to make independent decisions within a general framework nn nnAbility to supervise the work of field and/or office surveyors nn nnKnowledge of industry related software nn nnProficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office(if applicable) nn nnMust be fluent in the English language nn nn n nn nnPhysical Demands: nn nnWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance nn nnand stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
