RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Dallas, TX .

Member of the Middleware Engineering’s Database Team, which is responsible for providing software-based data platforms to support the Firm’s applications as a whole.

Responsible for providing support to the Firm’s critical applications that leverage multiple database platforms, including ensuring the health, performance and availability of systems in achieving the desired outcomes of those applications, as well as handling performance tuning and database queries.

Provide support for SAP ASE/Replication/IQ as well as IBM DB2 standardization programs from design, development and implementation, including security.

Install, configure, upgrade and maintain DB2 and Sybase DBMS environment utilizing database native tools as well as house-grown utilities.

Provide production support for DB2 and SAP ASE systems and work on building the database infrastructure (ex.

utilities interfacing with DBMS and Self-service Portal capabilities) globally.

Manage various OS and database specific upgrades on the Linux environment.

Build automation tools using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual implementation.

Enhance existing applications using batch scripting and Perl.

Partner and advise application developer clients on instilling best practices and solutions within the applications.

Analyze Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and disaster recovery scenarios to ensure critical systems can tolerate failures and have appropriate contingency plans.

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S.

or foreign equivalent) or Master’s degree (U.S.

or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or related field.

Minimum five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or two (2) years of experience with a Master’s degree or in the position offered or a related position.

Prior experience must include five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or two (2) years of experience with a Master’s degree with: Designing and supporting more than one mission critical system at any given time; Using a Linux Operating System, including using UNIX commands to analyze, maintain and develop server-size scripts, shell scripts, and Perl or Python scripts; Performing applications database support, including database design for highly concurrent applications, replication, stored procedures, and troubleshooting; and One or more of the following: SAP ASE, Replication, IQ or IBM DB2 DBA, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Prior experience must include two (2) years of experience with: SQL, including SQL performance and tuning and diagnosing potential performance issues by analyzing Query execution plans; and The full Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, design, prioritization, coding, testing, release and support.
