Yard Supervisor

This is a Full-time position in Midland, TX posted July 8, 2021.

Internal Short Description

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating skilled and semi-skilled employees performing maintenance and repair work on oilfield drilling equipment in a shop environment by monitoring work performance, performing quality audits, and ensuring certification compliance. This role will work under the direction of the Manager of Repair Shops.

Internal Description

  • Supervise shop personnel on a daily basis to provide work order assignments and required materials for job completion to maintain a minimal work order backlog
  • Ensure shop personnel are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
  • Coordinate the proper utilization of third party contractors and service
  • Manage all aspects of the shop budget
  • Maintain an appropriate level of spare and replacement parts inventory to support shop operations
  • Coordinate parts and equipment as needed for projects
  • Provide timely reports on all shop projects with estimated completion time(s)
  • Review shop personnel assignments for work order quality and follow-up with performance improvement
  • Provide input for the Manager to evaluate and review shop personnel as required by company policy
  • Ensure competency of shop personnel, and provide on-the-job instruction as needed

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience repairing multiple types of oilfield drilling equipment and systems
  • Effectively lead, manage, and develop employees to drive individual performance goals and ensure overall performance aligns with Company standards
  • Knowledge and familiarity with API and industry equipment standards
  • Working knowledge of basic equipment repair welding and machining
  • Ability to read technical drawings and ISOs
  • Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management for sourcing of material
  • Strong computer skills within MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in drilling equipment repair or relevant similar experience
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience over skilled and unskilled trade workers
  • Live within a 2 hour driving distance to the yard or be willing to relocate to the assigned area
  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Experience in oilfield drilling equipment repair or manufacturing facility
  • Previous experience in warehouse and inventory management

Additional Details

The Shop Supervisor must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide day to day guidance, direction and supervision to assigned personnel.
